Dowsing and Dowsers in Somerset

Basic information on dowsing in Somerset and the west of England.

Dowsing (or Divining) is a type of divination employed to locate ground water, buried metals or ores, gemstones, oil, gravesites, and many other objects and materials without the use of scientific apparatus. Dowsing is considered by some a pseudoscience, where there is no scientific evidence that it is any more effective than random chance. Others will disagree.

Dowsing groups:

Devon Dowsers

Dorset Dowsers

West Somerset Dowsers

Page update: Informed in May 2015 that the West Somerset Dowsers no longer exist. Photographs and information originally supplied by the group removed.
