Exmoor is primarily an upland area made up mainly of small villages and hamlets. The largest settlements are Porlock, Dulverton, Lynton, and Lynmouth, Simonsbath and Wheddon Cross. |
On this section of the Exmoorian website we have collected together recipes for traditional Exmoor and West Somerset dishes. Probably the tastiest recipes from West Somerset and North Devon. Most of the recipes are adapted from an unpublished family cookbook compiled by three generations of a Chipstable family in the 19th century. Three of these recipes have won prizes at local produce shows in recent years. Please let us know if you'd like to add your own recipe or comment on any of our recipes.
