Wiveliscombe, although officially classified as a village, has much more of a small town feel. Located midway between Exmoor and the Vale of Taunton in the west of Somerset. Wiveliscombe is an almost ideal base for a touring holiday of Exmoor and the Brendon, Blackdown, and Quantock Hills. Wivey, as it is known locally, is a thriving rural centre with a surprisingly wide range of businesses and shops. Wiveliscombe once had around 30 pubs, however, unfortunately, only three now survive in the town itself. All three of these eating and drinking houses are nevertheless well worth a visit for either food or drink. Wivey also boasts a couple of nice cafes and two breweries producing some fine local beers and ales, which must be sampled!
